This layout was made totally by me, but I obviously didn't draw the picture. That'd probably be Yazawa Ai, creator of NANA. Featured in this layout is none other than Osaki Nana herself. The image can be found in the NANA 1st Illustrations art book. The layout was made in Adobe Photoshop 7.0. The font is just Impact, which came with my computer. :P And, of course, this blog is powered by the omnipotent WordPress. <3 It is strongly recommended that you view this page in the latest version of FireFox. I use PNG-24 format, so if the image transparency looks all messed up, it's your own fault.

I fully blame Twitter for this blog's near-death experience. If you haven't signed up for it now, I really think you should. If I ever have anything I want to say, it usually ends up on there instantly (in 140 characters or less! Amazing!). The link to mine is on the side, and there's a feed to my latest tweets. Just in case you forgot I had that feature on here. :P Not that I blame you… why would anyone actually check this blog on a regular basis anymore?

It's my blogiversary today, so I feel a deep obligation to post something. Happy 7th! I wish I knew what I could catch you guys up on. I have been working the same stupid job. I've been at that bakery for over four years now. I'm not proud of it. My cashier training that I mentioned before was pretty much for nothing. I only get called in to work cashier shifts on days when I can't work. They eventually stopped calling me in because I kept saying no. And now we have a lot of people on holidays in the bakery, so I'm working 40 hours a week for the last few weeks before school starts, so what's the point?

Speaking of that, class starts on the 3rd. I can't wait. One month of classes then I'll be doing my second and final student teaching practicum. This one will be more involving: I'll be fully taking over my mentor teacher's teaching load, unlike last time where it was just partial. And it's for nine weeks instead of five. I should know by the end of September where I'll end up. I have a feeling it'll be the high school just up the street. I just don't want to end up in a place really far away like St. Albert, or something.

I mentioned this briefly on here before, but I did a summer course. It just finished a couple weeks ago. It's a required course for all Education students, and it was about the legalities and ethics behind teaching. I'm so glad I took it in the summer. Quick, six-week course on two evenings a week; LOTS of reading; a midterm, a term paper, and a final. Done. I expected a B+ or A-. I got the former, and I'm fine with that. You should read my term paper on how gay teachers have a moral obligation to come out to their students. ;D I'll send it to anyone interested.

Finally, I'll just quickly mention that… Zanth is coming in a couple weeks!! I can't wait! He's only staying for a week, but I've missed him so bad since I left Toronto. He just finished dog grooming school, and he has a week off. He'll be here during my first week of class, but that's fine. I'm thinking of putting together a little outing to have with other people while he's here, but I'm also considering it to be just a date for two. XD We'll see…

Anyway, that should be enough. Until next month's update!

    Monthly post - June edition!

I think it's funny how I forget I even have this blog until I get an email asking me to filter a spam comment in it. Not that I don't want to keep doing it, I just feel… disconnected from it lately. I don't know. I want to keep in touch and keep writing on here, and I will… I won't stop, I assure you.

So let's see. The heartache from leaving Toronto is mostly gone. I want it to be next year at this time so badly.

Oh, I started working as a cashier in my store on top of my bakery duties. The bakery has become a drama-fest which go above and beyond anything we experienced on grep, let me tell you. And I'm pulled right along into it. I'm usually just watching from afar, neutral as ever. I'm like that… I'll just be everyone's friend, and it all works out fine for me. Yeah, not this time. So I had to get out of there. On top of that, I'm the part-timer with the most seniority, but I'm being scheduled 24 hours a week? Bullshit, I can't pay for school on that. I can barely pay bills with that. Hence, cashier. Today was my first full day where I was schedule for it. Tomorrow is my second. I work until 11:15pm (weird time, I know). Not looking forward to that, but at least it'll be mostly dead most of the night. I would think.

Hmmm, other than that… I just come home every day and nerd it up on Final Fantasy XI (lame, I know). And I'm reading the best book ever by Anne Rice (Cry to Heaven). You should all read it. Don't worry, it's not her Jesus stuff. Ohhhh, no, far from it. >:D I start a night class on the 7th for six weeks, twice a week. It's a fourth year Education course that I'm required to take. I'm only taking it in the summer because I need to only take four courses in the Winter 2009 semester. I plan on doing a lot of extra stuff, so five courses would be stretching it.

Anyway, today's my grandma's birthday. I'm going to finish making myself my supper (I swear I'm not a desi eating at 9:30pm :P) and call her before it's too late. She's old, so she'll probably want to be in bed soon. Ciao~

    MIA in Toronto!

I'm actually not MIA, but I might as well be. I haven't really checked in with anyone since I got here. I've sent my own mother a single text message, and that's pretty much it. >.> I'm bad.

But I've been having fun! Zanth kinda works a lot, so I'm usually just at his house here killing time somehow, playing video games of some sort.

We've done quite a few things around town, too. We've been to karaoke, the Toronto Zoo, Anime North, Canada's Wonderland, and tomorrow we're going downtown to do the CN Tower and stuff. :D Who knows, we might come home hammered. <.< I have videos of some of the things we did, so look out for that when I get back. I'll have some hardcore editing to do.

It's sad that I'm leaving on Tuesday, but I have to admit that it'll be nice to get away from his crazy family. XD If I could take him back with me I would, but his family is too much for me to handle. They're all very nice people, and they've been nothing but kind to me, but they can be… strange. >.> That said, I'd stay another month if I could. I really don't care that they're strange. I just can't wait to move to this city in a year. I love Edmonton and all, but I have no doubts at all about moving away now.

Anyway, not sure if I'll blog again before I go. If not, I'll see you all when I get back. :D Ciao~

    The monthly update

I remember back in the day when Lbeth used to blog like once every couple months. Oh how things have changed. Now I'm the one who's doing that.

Anyway, I have some time to kill. I'm bored, so why not blog, right? So I finished student teaching last month. That was a relief, yet I kinda miss it. I'm all registered for the Fall and Winter semesters. I'll be student teaching again in the Fall. :D Yay for that. I also registered for a course in the Summer semester. I've never taken one outside the two regular semesters, and I still might drop it. It's just to lighten my load for next year's Winter semester. I'd love to only have four courses in my final semester before I graduate, that's all. I want to have more time to do extra things like volunteering and maybe even TA Japanese. Or at least tutor people. Most importantly, I want to be able to enter the Japanese speech contest again, this time in the Advanced category. I'm in it to win this time to go onto nationals. :D

Time has been zooming by ever since I finished this semester, though. I booked my flight to Toronto for May 14th (I'm there till June 3rd). I can't believe that's almost a week away. I totally think Jbeth should come to Toronto. >.> We're going to Anime North in case anyone wants to come for that. And yes, we are going to play dress up. Our costumes are to die for. Lbeth, I now own the wig that you showed me to get. It's amazing. XD

So yeah, just the same old crap going on, that's all. Tomorrow a friend and I are going to play Rockband and go have Thai. :D I've been "relaxing" (being lazy) on my days off work. XD Just sitting at home playing FFXI in my pajamas. So it'll be good to get out of the house. Let's see… hmm, not much else to report on.

    So I'm blogging.

I just finished marking quizzes that I gave my students on Friday. That took forever. It's also a rude awakening to see the wide range of marks. Everything from 25% to 90%. And students who you don't expect to do well (or to do poorly) can surprise you as well.

You'll have to forgive me if I don't make too many updates about teaching, and stuff. As part of my practicum, I'm required to keep a daily reflective journal, so I'm often not in the mood to regurgitate that stuff on here. Needless to say, I'm doing actual teaching now. I really got lucky where every unit in all the classes I'm in are doing something related to Biology. Even Health… they're doing Sex Ed. Yeah, that was an experience. My teacher taught that one. I didn't complain.

Next month I'm going on a trip. I've decided, and I have the funds to do so. At least I think I will. I haven't been in the best financial situation since last summer, but I will make this work if it kills me. I miss my boy way too much. -_- And I am still trying to figure out how to get to Phoenix at some point, too. I'd love to do the same kind of thing I did last summer. One way flight to Toronto, one way flight to Phoenix, one way flight back to Edmonton. I think I can afford that, but I want to bring Zanth with me to Phoenix really bad. It's still uncertain whether he can make that happen.

Anyway, I'll leave it at that today. I ordered pizza and I have to eat it now. Lately I've been craving pig, so I ordered pig pizza (ham and bacon toppings). Yum. >;9

P.S. I just received an amusing email with the "Increase your copulation organ" as the subject. Just thought I'd share. :D

April Fools. :P As if I'd shut down this blog. Lbeth, alright, you do use LJ quite a bit. I'd understand if you wanted to shut down some of your sites and and stuff. But no way am I giving up this place. XD

Hmm, maybe I should actually do an update of some kind? There isn't much to say. I can summarize it easily. I'm well into student teaching now. My last day is the 25th. The kids are brats, as expected, but that comes with the territory. I find it interesting how I've become really comfortable telling kids what to do. It's getting so bad that I have to seriously restrain myself from telling kids to smarten up on the bus. Next week is going to be interesting, as I fully take over the grade sevens. And I have bigwigs coming in to observe me for the first time. The kids are on spring break now (which means I am too! wee~) and they had a sub all last week. It's going to be a real challenge picking up the pieces on Monday. x.x

And finally, I just want Lbeth to know that I started doing something a couple days ago that she's going to be very pleased with. Something I'm not proud of whatsoever, and I know I'm going to be made fun of it. Unendingly. I'll just leave it at that because I have no doubt she knows exactly what I'm talking about.

I'm writing this post while playing FFXI. Every time I need to heal my MP I write a few sentences. Lame, I know. But holy crap, I'm currently trying out this Summoner job, and it's really taxing on MP…

I love getting packages in the mail. I ordered contacts, and they were sent to me by priority overnight FedEx, which is lovely. I got regular ones and coloured ones. I decided to try green and hazel. I have green in now, and I really like them. Under house lights you can't tell much difference, but in natural, outdoor light you sure can. It's been a few months since I had contacts, so I have to get used to them all over again.

I had pizza for lunch. It was good.

Tonight I'm going out for Japanese food and karaoke. It will be very fun, as usual. I like the traditional style karaoke boxes a lot better than karaoke bars. I'll never go to a karaoke bar again.

Yay, I leveled. And I have to go get my laundry out of the dryer now. Good timing.

I decided that I'd take a nap after I got home from school yesterday. Just a quick one, for about an hour and a half, tops. I set my alarm and everything. 14.5 hours later I wake up (this was about an hour ago). Thank god I didn't have anything I really needed to do. So I'm preparing for my lesson I have to teach, and I'm cooking KD for breakfast. This is the first time in a long time I've actually been alert at this hour (or actually cooking something for breakfast). I can't describe how weird I feel right now. Disoriented, if anything.
