    This layout was made totally by me, but I obviously didn't draw the picture. That'd probably be Yazawa Ai, creator of NANA. Featured in this layout is none other than Osaki Nana herself. The image can be found in the NANA 1st Illustrations art book. The layout was made in Adobe Photoshop 7.0. The font is just Impact, which came with my computer. :P And, of course, this blog is powered by the omnipotent WordPress. <3 It is strongly recommended that you view this page in the latest version of FireFox. I use PNG-24 format, so if the image transparency looks all messed up, it's your own fault.

    harry potter and the prisoner of azkaban: meh. i think it's just me being the last to get, well, everything. i just didn't get the point of a lot of the movie. at least the time paradox thing was kind of interesting.

    as for the whole camera mess, i did look into the cameras that were suggested in my comments (omg, sheena, you stalker! only i'm allowed to stalk your site! >:P). i almost settled on a couple, but then i got the bright idea to check ebay. hello. so i ended up getting the canon that i originally wanted (canon powershot a75). i paid for it yesterday (i am so broke now x_x!) and i can't wait for it to come. *_*;

    i'm eating these freaky doritos. they're all curled up into little stick things. it's so weird. it kind of reminds me of those 3d doritos. i miss hotie. ;_;

    as for the election, i did vote on monday. i also watched the election coverage from 5:00 to 11:30. and there were still some results yet to be finalized by then. i voted ndp, like i said i was. too bad ndp didn't win in my riding (it went conservative, by far). in fact, no alberta riding went ndp. two alberta liberal ridings, though, both up in edmonton. the winning party? liberals, of course (so paul martin is still the p.m.). but they didn't get a majority of the seats, so it's a minority government. all the other parties did way better than last time. for those who aren't familiar with a minority government situation, allow me to explain.

    okay, so here's more on what's happening.

    who? me.

    where? edmonton. near southgate mall. that area of town.

    when? my mom's coming back down in two weeks. if not then, she'll be taking my stuff at that time and i'll be greyhounding it up sometime in the week or two following (i don't know how much notice i have to give at work).

    why? it's not something i talk about anywhere (not here or real life) how much i hate living in this town. it's been over a year and i've done nothing with my life. something needs to change. i'm living a boring life in which i live day-to-day, not knowing what i'll do when i get up in the morning (besides go to work). it sucks, and i hate it. not to mention the fact that things are sort of coming to an end when it comes to me staying at my grandparents' house for free. i only found out about that last night, but it's a contributing factor.

    i do feel bad for leaving. i have lots of friends here, but i'm not going to keep living in a certain place for other people. i have plenty of friends in edmonton, too. i'm moving for me, though, and my word is going to be the last word. i've been in limbo since i quit school and moved here. if anything i'm a more depressed person, a more frustrated person, and a more disappointed person than i was before that. betcha couldn't tell, though.

    some may see this as going from mooching off one family member to another. i'm not afraid to admit that moving away from home three years ago, at the age of seventeen and a half no less, was probably one of the worst mistakes i have ever made. now's the time for me to regroup and figure out who i am and what i really want to do with my life. i supposedly moved here to do that, but things didn't turn out as planned (let's just say my grandparents don't provide the ideal environment for that to occur).

    i love my mother more than anyone, and - after a lengthy, heart-felt talk - she thinks it's a good idea. i think it's a good idea. so why not?

    then there's the perks, which are really more of an after-thought to this entire thing. you really don't know how much you miss edmonton until you've moved to a dinky little town in southern alberta. moving back almost feels like going home, and it's exciting. i'm even looking forward to fighting with edmonton transit on a daily basis (how frightening is that?). the timing couldn't be better, either. just in time for all the fun summer events.

    if all goes as planned, i'll be just in time for animethon in a few weeks. anyone want to come with me to mock the smelly cosplayers? i'm dead serious. and then there are the festivals. and klondike days. and west ed whenever i feel like it.

    specific plans are still out of the picture, but some general ones are the best i have right now. i still want to work part-time. seems like the grocery store environment is pretty fun for me, so i might just stick with that. no, i don't mind making eight bucks an hour. i really don't. and how long i'll be staying there is really unknown. i'm thinking at least until the end of the year. after that, we'll see. maybe i'll take a couple classes in the fall (the u of l has an edmonton campus at the u of a :D). we'll see, we'll see.

    you have to understand that this is the most i've planned in a long, long time. i don't make plans. i can't remember the last time i made some sort of plans to do something, say, a week in advance. same day, yes. next day, yes. a few days/the weekend, yes. so you'll have to throw me a (frickin') bone here and forgive me for not being able to know where i'll be this time next year.

    and, ew, a white spider just crawled down my pant leg!!! i just killed it with my slipper. x_X

    ideally, i want everyone to be happy. there are plenty of friends here in town that are probably not going to be very happy at all. but, come to think of it, every last one of them has plans to move away from cardston before the end of the summer. and i was supposed to just stay here and be abandoned? sorry for making the first move (ooh, a pun), but one of us was going to eventually.

    now, to call the people that don't read my blog and break the news to them…

    Posted in: Blog, Canadian Idol

    hmm, i was going to make this password protected, but i decided against it.

    first off, canadian idol. i can't remember if i mentioned this or not. but, yeah, i am so freaking smart. the two guys that i picked to get in got in. woo. :D and i think i have a wildcard pick ready to go (since group two was really good!), but i'm not going to say anything yet. next week is the week, though. mah girl has to make it thruuuuuuziez. >:\ i'm so going to vote, like, a dozen times or more on my cell.

    anyway, about life and stuff…

    this weekend has been really interesting. saturday was my grandma's 75th birthday. (tuesday was my mom's 40th; i sent her a $30 body shop gift certificate.) the family has been planning a surprise party for about six months now. the idea for one has been in the works since before christmas, actually. a couple people kind of let the cat out of the bag this last week, though. my grandma knew something was happening, but knew none of the specifics. i think the most she expected was a few of her kids coming down and having a little party in her house. we the senior's centre (only a block away), which has a kitchen and a hall and everything, booked for our use. my grandpa took my grandma into lethbridge this afternoon, though, so we could decorate and prepare for the surprise. :D since it's only a block away, there's a good chance she might see someone she knows or drive by or something. anyway, it was a big shocker. people from all around came. b.c., saskatchewan, northern alberta, dozens of local people. it was pretty good. :D we had one of the local chinese places bring in tons of food (and we still have leftovers! burg, come over and have ming's at my house! x_x so…much…rice). so, anyway, it was really fun. about 110 people showed up, and it makes me feel really nice that we did something really special for her. she deserves it in more ways than i could ever think of.

    so my mom was pretty much running the show. her and my sister came down. speaking of my sister, right now she's bragging about her sight reading talents as she plays the tenor sax in the living room. she has to write the notes' letters in, however, which amuses me. she's only been playing for a year, but i keep telling her to not write in the letters. she's going to have to quit doing that eventually.

    anyway, yeah, my sister's still here. my mom left earlier this afternoon. she starts her new job in edmonton tomorrow, and she's moved into her new place as of last week. my sister, however, is spending some of the summer down here at the grandparents'. she usually does, and i don't mind at all.

    oh, and i'm moving to edmonton in a few weeks.

    blah, i've been browsing around looking at digital cameras all day long. x_x even now. i think i'm done for the night, and i'm off to bed. but a quick blog post wouldn't hurt. so, yeah, i had my little heart set upon a sony camera, but i'm not so sure anymore. seems like the reviews i've been reading about sony cameras in general are rather hit-and-miss. lots of good reviews, some bad reviews with eerily similar complaints, so i'm looking at canon cameras now. honestly, i have yet to read a bad review on the camera(s) i've got my eye on. sure, the sonys are cheaper and come with better accessories, but i'm not sure i'm willing to take the risk. i've compared prices online like crazy, but i think i should check some stores in person before i buy anything. so, yeah, i'm in the market. yay. like i should be spending hundreds of dollars on things at the moment…yeah…good idea…

    is it sad that i only rented along came polly because there was a ferret on the front? it's interestingly good. good enough to get a thumbs up from me, at least. a good rental, that is, since i don't often buy romantic comedies to watch over and over again. even if it is an all-star cast, which is very surprising for the genre. oh, and remind me to watch the credits before i return it. why? i need to make sure that no animals were harmed in the making of that movie. that poor, poor ferret.

    big day tomorrow/today. the one day i have off work and i have plans to take up all my time. i guess i should sleep now. i'm still not setting my alarm. if anyone wants to wake me up, fine, but i'm sleeping in as much as possible. >:P

    voting n' stuff

    to joanna, who commented on my post about not knowing who to vote for, after much thought, i have decided to vote ndp on monday. :)

    and, like, everyone i know is, too. my grandpa (in this riding) is voting ndp, my great grandma (in lloydminster) is voting ndp, my mother (in edmonton) is voting ndp (and she always votes liberal), some friends (mostly up in edmonton) are voting ndp, even stephen notley (cartoonist of my favourite comic strip) is voting ndp. seems like it's the party to go for. i saw on the news last night that lots of the students in lethbridge right now are voting ndp (too bad the election isn't during the main school year).

    four more days! i can't wait! as for the party leaders, i'm pretty much at the point where i'm hoping and praying that harper doesn't become prime minister. i don't want our country to become a mirror of bush's united states. that scares me so much, it's not even funny. the fact that it might be a conservative minority government situation scares me way more, though. if a conservative/bloc quebecois coalition is formed, we might as well just add quebec to the list of things we can kiss goodbye. goodbye clean air, goodbye clean water, goodbye lower tuition (not that we ever had it), goodbye green industry promotion, goodbye national debt reduction (hello increased military spending), goodbye universal health care, goodbye social programs in general, and so long quebec thanks to a seperatist coalition. if kerry gets in, maybe i should move to the states. who wants to take me in? i'm a refugee of political injustice. :( well, not yet. we can all hope for jack layton winning, but, honestly, i'd be just as happy if paul martin got back in (anyone but harper, anyone but harper). an ndp opposition would be nice, too. :)

    ohh, almost six. i have to eat, set my vcr to record canadian idol, put away my sax that i just left sitting out >_>, and then go to waterton and climb bear's hump (this easy little mountain climb hike that has stairs and everything). so much to do, so little time…

    canadian idol picks
    Wed 23 Jun 2004 @ 2:53:56 pm
    Posted in: Blog, Canadian Idol

    ugh, i just got rid of dozens of spam comments. i got spammed again yesterday, it seems. i looked up some of the ip addresses, and they're coming from tons of places. everywhere from amsterdam to new york. it's crazy. x_x; i also discovered the wonderful "latest comments" feature in wordpress. yeah, nice going dan. anyway, yeah, that's so much easier than looking up all the spammed messages. *_*

    okay, canadian idol tonight, and i'm going to state who i've picked to make it through into the top ten. yes, two have already made it through, but it was a bad, bad week, so this week is when it all starts for me. okay, picks (with a recap from last week)…

    group one (last week): i actually did predict that joshua seller would make it through. i hate his guts, but i could just tell people were going to vote for him. he is so ugly when he sings. x_x; and his curly blond receding hairline really looks good. yeah. right. *gag* -_- and as for brandy callahan, she's a really good singer, but she didn't really sing very well last week. we'll see how well she does. i really doubt she'll win, but she might make it pretty far since she actually has talent.

    group two (tonight):
    - kalan porter
    - kaleb simmonds

    group three:
    - theresa sokyrka (MY PICK FOR WINNER! …it feels so good to have someone picked out so early, unlike this last season of american fuppin' idol)
    - jacob hoggard

    group four:
    - manoah hartmann
    - brock groombridge

    right now, i'm really loving theresa, manoah, and kalan (in that order). i think it's funny how two are from saskatchewan and one's from medicine hat, alberta. they could be from anywhere, though, and i'd still love them. manoah has impressed me time and time again. she's just a great singer who can really sing anything, and she's a schoolteacher who teaches music to kids and stuff. *_* and she broke her neck in a car accident on her way to the audition, and she's made it this far. that alone is impressive, never mind her amazing voice. kalan, omg, i think he's so dorky looking. i think the pixieziez girlziez might vote him in though because he has this babyface smile going on with the curly hair and all that. i had some picks for the wildcard picked out, but it's too early to even figure out who's going to be in it, let alone who's going to win it. and, also, just because i picked these people, doesn't mean i like them all. people like kaleb…blah, i think he should have been cut a long time ago, but he's so the fantasia of this season. dare i say the jenny gear of this season. i don't like him though (i loved jenny gear). his voice sounds so different, like i said. there's always someone who's got this weird overly unique voice, i guess. kaleb's sounds something like a synthesizer, or something like that. it's really…weird. i'm not sure if i like his voice, but i certainly don't like him. for the duets, he was the one that totally screwed up everything, and his really cute partner (she looked kind of desi, too >_>) totally carried him through the entire thing. and she was the one that got cut!!! -_- so that makes me not like him, but we'll see what happens.

    ohh, look, a line break. ummm, i have nothing else to say, really. if you really want, the top 32 page is right here if anyone wants to browse around. :D because you love me. :D and because you love me, you love what i love. :D and i love canadian idol. :D so you love canadian idol :D!

    there's nothing to freaking say. you know your blog is the favourite among the group when you get yelled at for not blogging after a few days. i am so great. bow down to me. now. so i'll just ramble on and on about stuff you don't care about, as usual, m'kay? :)

    sunday was my mom's birthday (and father's day, too, for some reason). the sad thing is that i couldn't talk to her! :( and, kley, you've heard this story already, i know. anyway, yeah, she moved on the weekend. and i really tried contacting her (i was, like, calling her friends and everything). i called her old red deer number, which is still active and with an answering machine hooked up to it. so i wished her a happy birthday on her machine. x_x how impersonal, but it was the best i could do. ;_;

    oh, she moved to edmonton, by the way. how secretly *_* is that? >_> (yay for replacing words for emoticons *_*) so now i have family in edmonton again! i have a reason to actually go up there more often! :D no promises i'll make it up there this summer, because i really don't know. :( so don't nag…i can't plan for anything at the moment. so, yeah, edmonton! my mom's putting my sister into an all-girls school with uniforms and all that stuff. >D poor cassie, but it's for her own good. >:D speaking of cassie, she shaved her head and donated her hair to cancer last week. X_X;;; just when her hair was getting long, too. i'm so proud of her though. ;_; my sister's so compassionate for a twelve-year-old. ;_;

    and, omg, i have the news on right now and it said that it was 41 degrees in b.c. today somewhere. that same one spot that's always really hot. my grandma says they can grow bananas there. @_@ it's been pretty hot here, too. and there's lots of bugs this year. ;_; no grasshoppers, though! not that i've seen, at least.

    i found out today was the last day to register to vote, and i haven't done it. <_< yes, you can register at the polling station, but i wonder how many other people are deciding to wait to the last minute like that. probably tons. to procrastinate seems to be human nature.

    and, haha, mary-kate olsen has been hospitalized for anorexia. she's such a liar; i remember her denying she had an eating disorder on tv several times (didn't you know that i'm addicted to watching celebrity/entertainment shows like entertainment tonight, extra, access hollywood, and canada's e-talk daily?). but seriously, everyone could see that she was getting unhealthily skinny. it was getting so bad i heard that she was going to try out for the part of ami mizuno on pgsm. i made a funny.

    ugh, i just got fourteen spam comments. some of them in japanese!! even the japanese ones are about online casinos (onrain kajino). how sad. it takes me forever to delete them when i get hit. ;_; i tried looking for some sort of hack or plug-in for wordpress to reduce the comment spam, but i was pretty much unsuccessful. i'm hoping the next release will have better protection, but one can only hope.

    um, let's see. cdjapan is being evil to me again. i want to buy three cds. the new seramyu one coming out next month (since i seem to be buying the memorial albums lately, even though it's costing me an arm and a leg) and two jubei-chan ones. and since that really good jupiterstar site, or whatever, is a bit outdated now since j2 came along, here's a little jubei-chan discography thingy for you to go and memorize because you HAVE TO:

    jubei-chan original soundtrack
    jubei-chan original soundtrack 2
    jubei-chan 2 original soundtrack
    jubei-chan (1) rereleased original soundtrack (with different tracklisting)
    yui horie j2 theme single

    at least i think her name is yui horie. she's the new voice of jiyu, and she sings the end theme, which i'm newly in love with. anyway, i have the ost from the first one. i wanted the 2nd ost, but i haven't gotten around to it. well, since they rereleased the music from the first series (and basically combined the tracklisting of both the first soundtracks), jubei-chan ost 2 is first on the chopping block of discontinuation. cdjapan is listing it as being limited in availablity, or something. so of course that makes me want it even more. and i want the j2 album, of course.

    and this is all going to cost me, like, $150, easy. x_x when i ordered last summer's seramyu album (memorial 12: starlights! ryuusei densetsu) it cost me a good $75, or so. shipping is the killer, but bandai items aren't always cheap. the cd itself is 30-something US dollars. x_x even the seramyu vhs tapes are, like, US$40+ each? something like that. x_x; i wouldn't know.

    thirsty. wonder if to drink some kool-aid. will. oh YEEAAAAAAH!

    Posted in: Blog, Canadian Idol, The Sims!!

    so we went to lethbridge this morning. in a nutshell, i got a dvd and shoes. i like the shoes. i like the dvd.

    what dvd? amテゥlie, of course. the dvd i've been meaning to get for, like, years. x_x

    but there's a story to go with buying it today. >_> so, for some reason or another, i wanted to open the case. like, totally. on the walk to the car i pulled off all the plastic and the bonus material dvd fell out and onto the ground as i opened the case. the ground just happened to be, like, cement or something. not dirt or grass or anything soft. so when i pick it up i notice a crack. great. so i go back to hmv and tell them that i just bought this dvd and it's broken. >_>;;;;;; so they replaced it. <_<;;;;;;;;;;; suckers. >:D but, honestly, do dvds normally crack like that when dropped? O_o it wasn't just a tiny little crack, either. it was really noticable. we're thinking it might have been cracked before i dropped it, and then it got worse. @_@ seriously.

    karma has its way of rearing its ugly head, however. when we were in hmv the first time we saw a copy of amテゥlie with, what looked like, a couple small areas on the case being peeled off. like, it looks like someone had glue or tape on it, and ripped it off taking bits of the paper case with it. i was like "eww" and didn't buy that copy, of course. well, guess which copy the hmv guy gave me as a replacement. that one. x_x oh well, at least it doesn't have any cracked discs. >_>;

    canadian idol. two down, ten to go. (yes, it's going to be a top ten this year, not a top eleven or twelve). i knew the first week was going to be sucky. anyone remember the really awful group in american idol 3 (group two, i believe)? well, it was kind of like that. x_x no one did good, really. the people who had a good performance lacked personality, originality, or what (i think) farley calls "the hook" ("the look, the hook, and the textbook"). or what i think is the hook. the two people who made it through sang pretty bad, in my opinion. i guess someone had to make it through. the curly blonde-haired guy (WHO WORE A PINK SHIRT, WTF!?) sang a song i really hate. -_-;;; that song better not make it onto the ci2 album. omg, it's the first week of the top 32 finalists and i'm already thinking of the album. but yeah, this guy is shaping up to be the next diana degarmo. >:D i love saying that because he's a pussy who wears pink and has a big mouth. >_>;;; which reminds me, i'm so glad that one guy who wore only white didn't make it. can you say GEORGE HUFF LITE!? X_X;;; "lite" as in…without the bobbing up and down and the permanent smile. same voice, though, i swear. x_x; i won't rejoice quite yet, though, because he might surprise us and return for the wildcard show (which, by the way, is just like a regular week of voting…no judges interfering like on dumb american idol; we don't want another leah labelle event reoccuring).

    aren't i longwinded tonight? let's talk about the sims. :D briefly. hehe, yeah right.
