looks like i won't be getting 100% on that test. it took me 15 minutes to finish, and that's never good for me. plus there was stuff on there from one of the days i decided to skip. >_> stuff about ABACAA'ACA and that crap. i totally forget it all. oh well. and there were a few trick questions on there i hope i got right.

i doubt i'll get less than A-, though. yay for that.

now i get to go and beg my english teacher to let me write the quiz i missed when i accidentally slept in on wednesday. then i go to funfun bio. then i go to funfun work. stupid birthday.

tomorrow is my birthday. i'm not going to be a retard and not say anything, and then after it happened get mad at everyone for forgetting. >D

i have to work tomorrow. in the evening. school all day and work all night. gotta be out of the house by 8:10am, don't get off until after 10:00pm. lucky me. :(

i have my first music "midterm" tomorrow, too, worth 25% of my mark. i say "midterm" because it's not a real one. we've got… 3, i think? and some assignments. i haven't even opened the textbook, and i'm not sure if i'm going to. i think i'll skim over the music terms before class. :D i'm shooting for 100% on this test.

since i work tomorrow, and all weekend, we have to celebrate my birthday tonight. my family wants to take me to the keg. i have a bio lab from 4:30 to 7:30 tonight, so we'll go after that. oops, i forgot that i had homework for that lab. i guess i should do some zoology homework as well. i'm going to make a fun spreadsheet for that one. tanya will be so proud. :)

today's word of the day made me think of you.

bad news: canada has a new prime minister. his name is stephen harper. he is the leader of the conservative party.

good news: it's a minority government (again). that means the conservatives will have to work with the liberals or the bloc quebecois to pass anything.

we'll be back to the polls in a year. i hope. this conservative government won't be sustainable. i don't think the conservatives have any interest in quebec (even though they won in ridings there!! that's a shocker, eh?) so the bloc will be upset. they'll go to the liberals and be like, "hey, what's up with this!? let's do a no-confidence vote!" and the liberals will be like, "let's go over to the NDP and see if they'll help us!" and the NDP will be like "HELL YEAH!!!!" and that'll be the end of that.

what we need is a new liberal party leader, and i'm glad paul martin realizes that. he's quitting as leader; i wonder who the new one will be. o_O hopefully someone totally new. i have a feeling canadians are willing to forgive and forget when it comes to liberal scandals, especially if we get some new, young blood in there.

the sickest part of the election is that every riding in alberta went conservative. every single one. there are usually a few who go liberal, especially here in edmonton. not this time. anne mclellan (the now outgoing deputy prime minister [like a vice president, for you americans]) lost her seat to a conservative.

i think it's interesting how olivia chow got in. she's the wife of NDP leader jack layton (who won his seat, of course). husband and wife duo! better watch out!! >_>

ugh, i gotta go sulk for a bit. i can't stand to see harper's stupid face on tv anymore. what have you done, canada!?

*edits* i went to CNN to see if there was an american reaction, and this really shocked me (there must not be anything better in the news)…

most of you americans probably had no idea that the canadian government imploded a few months back, forcing a federal election. i won't explain how it happened, but i'll just say it was expected, and it wasn't the first time it happened. we had a minority government, and i'm surprised it lasted over a year. sites like wikipedia have pages about our election procedures and the politics of canada if you want to investigate that.

today is election day. the general feeling of this election campaign is one of confusion. politicians are spewing out some of the stupidest crap i've ever heard (did anyone even pay attention to the blunder that was the french language debate!? harper considers the bloc quebecois impotent! ha!). this confusion is really not helping the fact that we're experiencing the lowest voter turnout in the history of this country.

well, i'm a couple thousand dollars poorer now. today was the deadline for tuition payment, and i just made it. -_- yay for me. i hate writing cheques with that many digits.

here's where i go into too much detail, lbeth-style. i'm kicked out of the school, basically, if i didn't pay by today. i planned everything out perfectly back in early december, and i figured that i'd have almost exactly enough to pay this semester's tuition if i didn't go overboard with christmas. well, i went overboard with christmas. and there were a couple weeks in december where i didn't get as many hours as i thought i would at work. so i fell short about $400. i borrowed money from my uncle so i could pay this. i hate borrowing money. i hate it a lot.

i'll make the money back, of course, since i'm not quitting my job any time soon (even though i really, really want to because of the stress i've been experiencing there lately). the lovely $400 cheque from the alberta government will clear this off, too. i don't want it to, but it will. i've been planning for months to put that toward an ipod. it bugs me so much that i won't have one soon. >:O some birthday present.

i think i shall apply for some bursaries from the school. :D because if this isn't financial need, i don't know what is. i think i will go back to student loan land next year. x_x if they'll let me. the government kind of kicked me in the balls about a year ago for not paying back my last one nicely. >_>;;;

time for music class. i'm still waiting to learn about the gregorian chant stuff, but it's been so lame up until now. last class was all about rhythm. thank heavens for that… i almost forgot what a quarter note was. *rolls eyes* omg, i just forgot what sharps are! good thing i have today's class on pitch. oh, yes, indeedy.

what's even more lame is i still take notes. x_x

Unfancy Quote. i've always hated how wordpress changed quotation marks and apostrophes like that. i don't want those fancy ones. i want the normal ones. it makes for better copying and pasting. >:P anyway, that's gone now. yay.

Subscribe to Comments. not that anyone will use it. but if you want to, by all means. it's an interesting feature, and i'm getting very used to reading comments by email (thanks to wordpress emailing me all the comments on here… and livejournal doesn't help this much either). i'm not saying my blog is teh buttsecks, but if you're one of those people who likes to read comments on older entries, this feature is for you. just click the subscribe box and all comments that are made after yours will be emailed to you. and, yes, you have an unsubscription option. :P i can manage your subscriptions as well, so if you have problems with this, let me know.

and the one plugin i hope you don't notice…

Akismet. it's supposed to filter out spam. since upgrading to wordpress 2.0, my spam detection has gone out the window. i had a nice little plugin that caught ALL spam, and it let through ALL non-spam messages. it was perfect. but that's gone now. so i'm giving this one a try. so far so good.

speaking of comment spam, one thing that i've noticed is that wordpress is a lot pickier about what comments it lets through. about half the comments you people post are being put into a moderation queue, and it's kind of annoying. i've tested a few things and it looks like your comment is being posted, but it's not. this may come as a surprise to you; it's designed so you can't tell (so you don't repost your comment repeatedly). i think the biggest thing wordpress doesn't like is how some of you aren't putting your actual email addresses. it says right next to the email box that your email will never be published. ever. the only access to those email addresses is an admin account on this blog. i don't even know how to make wordpress publish your email address if i wanted to. so, please, if you don't mind putting a valid email address, i'd appreciate it very much. it saves me work from having to moderate a bunch of comments.

i guess i should mention tanya and karl's wedding. i really wish i could go, and plane tickets aren't that expensive. $400, or so. but i'm poorer than poor at the moment. i have a bad habit of saying i'll go on fun trips like that, but i never go. i am getting $400 free money from my government, but that actually has to be put toward something else. not even an ipod. -_- i'd rather not get into that right now though.

i slept in till 2:30 today. this was the first time i've had a real day off in several weeks. no work and no school. yay. :D too bad i have a bad headache. i think i'm going to get some advil now.

let's see… want to hear something interesting? i slept through my alarm. i'm forced to skip zoology. second class of the semester. i think this is a bad idea. x_x it's all review about common and general features of phylum chordata, but i don't remember them all. <_< that's kind of important information, don't you think? it's like… the foundation of the course. i hope i can get that information out of the textbook.

my bio course is taught by the same guy who teaches zoology. o_o i actually remember seeing his name on both classes when i checked my classes, but i totally forgot. he's very nice, and that makes me really happy that i have him teaching my two hardest (and most important) classes. :D

english really got off on the right foot this semester, let me tell you. -_- i am so fed up. i'm pretty sure he's biased, and he refuses to give me anything higher than 78%. not that i did that well. i got C- in the midterm. which is very upsetting, and i can't wait to hear what his marking criteria were (we find out today in class). it seems to me that he's just throwing numbers at me. i don't see what constitutes getting two out of four on a question, you know what i mean? i got just over 50% on the first part of the exam, and that upsets me. it was all on the short stories we read, and i read them all. while i didn't know every pathetic detail, i still knew the stories. i memorized the author's names, too. i don't think i was given a fair mark for that section, and it really pisses me off. i hate this class so much. i'm not perfect in it, but i'm sure he's prejudging what kind of work i'm "capable" of before he even marks my stuff. what upsets me is that i really need to bring my mark up in that class, but i hate it so much that i don't want to make any extra effort. once it's over, i will never ever take another english class as long as i live.

music is going to be a breeze. i know how to pass classes like that, and i'm shooting for an A+. i doubt i'll get it, but anything less than A- in that class is unacceptable for me.

i guess i should get ready and go, eh? bus leaves in 15 minutes…

this amuses me. (yes, i know this will break my layout. oh well.)
