three blog posts in one day? who'da thunk it?

right now there are half a dozen fire engines pulling away from my building. my family sure picked a great night to go on a trip without me. :( seriously… my grandma and grandpa came and my sister and mom went with them to… uh… i forget. my great grandma's? o_o i only found out yesterday and was like… "thanks. really 'preciate it."

so i worked till 11 (an hour overtime like normal -_-), got home around 11:20, and the instant i turn the key for my apartment door, the fire bells start ringing. (they're the old school old school bells. o_o you know what i mean by that? think of a big red metal bowl.) i must have jumped a foot off the ground. i thought i had done it. for like a full minute i thought i had caused the alarm to go off somehow. i go inside and notice a haze in the room, like it could be smoke or something. i start to panic, and i wonder if i should take miss deadly down with me. she doesn't like to be held for more than ten seconds, so i was really in a pickle. we should really get her a pet carrier or something. i noticed at the time that the haze didn't smell like anything, so i didn't worry too much. i only just figured out that it was the badly lit room and a few water spots on my glasses that made it look like haze in here. x_x

but i still ended up going downstairs to the lobby to see what was going on. about 20 people ended up coming down. many of them were mothers with young children. every time i saw a half-awake mom stagger in with her half-awake child slumped over her shoulder, my heart broke. these poor people.

and then the 90-year-old asian granny comes hobbling in on her cane at 0.01 miles per hour. that poor old lady.

i was determined to stay and find out what was going on. turns out someone on the third floor pulled the alarm. i live on the fourth floor and haven't stepped foot on the third floor all day. i was relieved to know my key turning didn't cause it. >_>;;;

it took the fire department a good 15 minutes to even get here, and another five to turn the alarm off. x_x

so, yeah, this has been the second false alarm since i moved in here (assuming none happened while i was out). last time it happened during the day, but my mom and sister were here with me for that one. we walked downstairs, walked around the building, didn't see fire, and walked right back up. >D also, one of the high-rises across the street had a false alarm not long after that.

ah, the life of apartment living.

i got my ralph bucks in the mail today. only a couple months late. :D i'm going to leave for work early so i can deposit it in my bank account.
